Embark on an exhilarating one-day expedition from Athens to the enchanting rock formations of Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage site that defies imagination. This meticulously planned tour seamlessly integrates the charm of a travel with the awe-inspiring beauty of Meteora’s monastic complex.
Your adventure commences early in the morning at the Athens railway station, where you'll have to board (on your own) a comfortable bus for Kalabaka, the gateway to Meteora. Upon reaching Kalabaka, a knowledgeable local English-speaking tour leader will be your companion for the day, leading you to the ethereal realm of Meteora. The tour provides ample time to see all 6 monasteries and explore 3 of them, each offering a unique perspective and panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. As the day draws to a close, the tour ends, and your return journey to Athens offers a peaceful reflection on the day's discoveries.
Our bus departs at 7:45AM. At around 12:20 you will arrive in Meteora. Please reach the meeting point at least 20 minutes earlier to find the correct bus.
There is no need to show any tickets or vouchers, our driver will have a list with your name on. Point your name and board on the bus. The seats are not assigned.
The exact meeting point is on the opposite side of Larissis Central Train Station of Athens in Deligianni Str which is located below:

On this tour, you get to see all 6 monasteries and visit 3 of them. However, the monasteries we visit are not always the same, given that each monastery has its own visiting hours and is closed once a week.
Visitors and pilgrims are required to follow a dress code in order to enter the monasteries. Women must wear a skirt (reaching below the knee) and have their shoulders covered. Men must wear long pants (preferably) or shorts (reaching below the knee) and have their shoulders covered, as well.
All monasteries have, on average, 200-250 steps each (with the exception of The Nunnery of St. Stephen, which has only a small bridge). Please, be mindful that even though we will try to modify the tour to make it easy for you, it is not guaranteed that the Nunnery of St. Stephen will be visited (depending on the day and/or other special occasions/circumstances).
Each monastery has an entrance fee of 5€ per person. Children up to 12 years old do not pay an entrance fee.
